RVLock Atlas

We are getting our 2007 Itasca Sunova 35J geared up, and ready to get out on the road. One gadget we added to our 2011 Cyclone was a keyless lock and we knew we would want something similar for our motorhome. The only option we found was the RVLock Atlas.

Ditch the Keys, Embrace Convenience: Why You’ll Love the RVLock Atlas

For RV owners, fumbling with keys can be a constant hassle. Imagine lugging groceries or setting up camp, only to realize your key is buried in your bag. The RVLock Atlas offers a solution: keyless entry for your RV.

We loved the flexibility of being able to walk away from the RV and lock it without taking a key. We do travel heavy with all of our kids, and it gives us the ability for the kids to get in and out of the RV without them coming to us for keys.

The search

When I was searching for a keyless handle for our class A, there just weren’t many options out there. I found the Atlas while looking through a facebook group for Itasca Sunova owners, and although his motorhome was a year newer, it looked the same. I went to the RVLock website and the measurements looked a little off, but I figured it was going to work. There was a little bit of sticker shock at $299 when buying, but I found a couple coupon codes through id.shop.me and we paid $255 so it didn’t hurt quite as bad. But know, we purchased this, and although there are affiliate links on this post, we did not receive anything for writting it.

RVLock was lightning-fast with shipping! Their communication was on point as I started receiving notifications right away, and within a few days, I had the lock in my hands.

When I opened the box, I was immediately impressed with the quality of not only the lock and accessories but also the packaging itself. The package was elegant in appearance, and everything had a real quality feel to it.

The instructions were very straightforward, and the installation was as easy. Everything was going way too smoothly to this point, and all of a sudden there was a problem.

Houston we have a problem

Remember how I said that the measurements seemed close enough, well there was definitely a small variance. The lever that connected to the release in the door was a little too long, and the threaded portion was a little too short.

We had to make a decision, would I just return this, and go back to square one? There were no other options available out there. Or would I just make the necessary modifications to this one and make it work (while making it unreturnable)? I ended up doing the latter. Took some measurements on the lock to figure out what I needed. And then went to Ace Hardware and went through their hardware bins in the back and found a bushing the size i needed to make up for the missing threads. Once I installed the lock with the bushing, I marked and cut about 1/4″ off the lever and it worked!

Here’s why you might want the RVLock Atlas:

  • Convenience: Forget digging for keys! Enter your RV with a unique code or use the included key fob.
  • Security: The Atlas boasts a durable metal construction and uses high-security encryption for its keyless entry system.
  • Easy Installation: Many users report installing the Atlas in under 30 minutes, making it a weekend project.
  • Peace of Mind: Whether you’re adventuring or leaving your RV in storage, the Atlas provides an extra layer of security.

Things to Consider:

  • Compatibility: While the Atlas is designed for Class A and C motorhomes, ensure it fits your specific RV door https://www.rvlock.com/pages/rvlock-atlas-fit-guide.
  • Limited Functionality: The key fob or code only unlocks the deadbolt. You’ll still need a key for the lower latch, which some users find inconvenient.

Overall, the RVLock Atlas offers a compelling upgrade for RV owners who value convenience and security. Its easy installation and weatherproof design make it a practical choice for those looking to ditch the key hassle.
