The Tale of a Leaky Toilet

After a couple busy days of exploring national parks we decided to stop at an RV park and enjoy some rest and full hookups.  After boondocking for a while we always look forward to getting hookups and taking showers, doing laundry and getting things clean.

One thing we didn’t expect was extra water in the bathroom.  There was a small puddle near the toilet.  I cleaned it up, hoping someone had just spilled water, or made a mess getting out of the shower.  That was not the case.  There was a small leak in the back of the toilet.  Doug had the pleasure of pulling the toilet out to check it out.  It was a small crack in, what was luckily, an inexpensive piece.  We were staying in a small town and couldn’t get the part until we got to a bigger town.  But Doug bought some epoxy to keep things dry until we could get the part.  Unfortunately, that didn’t work and it continued to leak.  Fortunately, it was a small leak and leaving a washcloth on the floor was enough for the couple days until we got the part we needed.  And once we got it, it only took him minutes to get the repairs done.

In the little town of Monticello, where we were staying, there was a nice library.  Harmony and a couple of the boys went to check it out.  We went during preschool story time.  Emmett had fun sitting with the other kids listening to stories and doing crafts.  The other boys played on the computers and read some books.  We always like visiting libraries in towns we travel through.  A lot of them have a book sale in the front and for less than a dollar each we can get some new books and recycle our old ones.  Our boys all love to read and there is limited book space so we try to swap them out whenever we can.

We stayed two nights at the RV park and were able to get a lot done while we were there.  We all enjoyed the down time and felt refreshed and ready to go.  So off we went, heading south.
