Old America Kampground

We pulled into Old American about 5 pm on a Tuesday and there wasn’t an attendant on duty.  Which is fine, our tag and info was taped to the window by the door, with a line drawn to our site.  I had picked our site online, so there was no guesswork to that.  We found our site pretty easily; it was on the end of a line of about 20 spots that were mostly filled along the river that separates Idaho and Washington.  We were along a steep hill with a trail that leads down to the river.  We had to keep a good eye on Emmett.  The sites are full hook up which is nice.  We got level and hooked up pretty quickly.  This is a fairy small campground, and from the looks of it, it was mostly older folks.  We did not see a single other kid while we were there.  There was a clubhouse with a kitchen, TV and Foosball.  The park was in fairly good shape, but needed some upkeep for sure.  The bathrooms had 2 showers, the water pressure was good, and there was not a lack of hot water.  The laundry room adjacent to the bathrooms had 2 washers and 2 dryers.  One washer was $1.50 and the other $1.25 and the dryers were $.25 for 10 min of dry time, expect to spend at least $1.25 per load to dry.   I went down to the office in the morning to settle up, and had to pay $1 per night per device for WIFI, and had I known how well the service was going to work, I would have just passed.  Overall it was a good stop for us, but I couldn’t see us staying at this campground for any extended period of time.  This park is a part of RPI and Coast to Coast, and only cost $10 a night for us, plus that darn sales tax.   I’d say 3 Stars out of 5, convenience and amenities were there, but not a family friendly place, and needed some work.

About Fummins Family

In 2016 a family hit the road with 5 of their children. They were going to travel the country in a Ford Excursion that had a cummins engine. A ford with a cummins, hence the name, Fummins. Ford+Cummins=Fummins. It was going to be a fummins family roadtrip. Within 3 months they decided that the travel trailer they were pulling wasn't working well for their family. They needed more space so they upgraded to a fifth wheel. It's not easy to pull a fifth wheel with an excursion, so they had to bid farewell to the fummins. They talked about changing the name of theirs travels, but decided to hold onto it for a while longer. They already had a website, blog, youtube, instagram and facebook. After 2 more years they decided to make the switch to Roadschool. Here they will share some of the old posts and video. It may be old information, but it's still just as good...at least most of it!
