Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for RV Moms

As the saying goes, Happy Wife, happy life right?  That is no different whether you live in an RV or in sticks n bricks.  Mother’s day is a holiday that you CANNOT go half way with; I can tell you that from experience.  So set reminders or alarms on your phone and do not forget to buy the mother in your family a gift or do something to show appreciation for them.  That goes for the mom inside your rolling household, and your mother/grandmothers back home.

I compiled this list of ideas; here they are in no particular order and this post does include affiliate links.

A Berkey Water Filter

There is a cult following among the RVing community with these gravity fed water filters.  The Berkey filters produce the most Healthful Drinking Water available.  Berkey Water Filter can remove hundreds of contaminants like viruses, bacteria, cysts, parasites, pesticides, chlorine, fluoride, VOC’s and more from the water and purify more than any other gravity filters available!  There is a huge amount of sticker shock when you start pricing these systems, but can you really put a price on your health.

Aeropress

Raise your hand if you wife/mom is a coffee drinker (maybe you are too).  Ever been boondocking and want a good fresh cup of Joe, but don’t want to start the generator to make it, or even clean out the French press?  You will love the AeroPress!  This small inexpensive RV friendly coffee maker is exactly what you are looking for.  This thing is a breakthrough in the brewing process, and makes the best coffee you have ever tasted.  It requires no electricity, just add hot water, and cleanup is super easy.

Coffee or Wine Cup/Glass

Now that you have the best tasting water or coffee, perhaps mom needs something to drink it in.  We all know that we have limited space in our RV kitchens; but maybe mom needs a new water bottle/hydroflask, coffee cup or wine glass just for her.  There are so many stainless steel options out there that are stronger and weigh less than glass and hold temperatures better than plastic.  If you look around a little you will find a ton of RV themed ones that will sure to bring a smile to moms face.

Cutting Boards

OK I promise this is the last thing for the kitchen, but these things are awesome.  We do not use these specifically, but we love our flexible cutting boards.  They are super easy to clean, take up literally no space and the overall functionality is awesome.

Hammock

Who doesn’t like to stretch out and relax?  I know the mom in our house does, and one of her favorite gifts she’s gotten was a hammock.  They are lightweight and take up almost no space in the RV.  If you like to stay in RV parks that don’t have tree’s, or don’t allow hanging stuff from them, there are options out there that come with frames that break down for easy storage.  And if you go this route, get one big enough for 2 so dad can snuggle with mom!

Folding/Camping Chair

A definite necessity living the fulltime RV lifestyle is a camping chair.  You know the ones that fold up, and you pull them out to hang out in your yard and around campfires.  These things come in many sizes, shapes and colors.  Get one for mom that she can relax in and take in the beauty of where you’re camping at.

Bluetooth portable speaker/headphones?

Does your mom like to “rock out” while lounging in her hammock or outdoor chair? If so, a Bluetooth speaker could be the gift for her.  They are incredibly portable, lightweight, and of course have Bluetooth capabilities that make it easy for your mom to hook right up to her phone and get funky.  Is mom a runner?  Maybe a set of Bluetooth headphones would be a better option.  Something she can listen to while getting her morning run on!

Travel Pillow

Does mom like to nap on long travel days?  Maybe a good travel pillow is the right gift for her.  I don’t know what else to say except with more rest mom will feel better and be much happier.

Audible subscription

So she has something to listen to her tunes on now, but maybe mom likes to listen to books.  Audible is a great service that has almost 500,000 audio books and original content.  Best of all it’s a part of Amazon, so it’s easy to sign up and use.

Gift Cards

Before you all start thinking how un-personal this is, hear me out.  When I say a gift card, I don’t mean go out to and get a gift card to Walmart or Amazon(unless that’s what she likes).  Put a little more thought into it.  For instance what is her favorite store?  Does mom really like Starbucks coffee or a certain restaurant?  Try to personalize it just for her while giving her the freedom to get what she wants.

Spa day or yoga

Maybe mom needs pampered?  Do a google search, “spas near me” or something equivalent and find something close to the campground you are staying in.  Maybe she likes her nails done, or a massage.  There will likely be plenty of shops to choose from in the area you are in.  If you know her schedule well, go ahead and set up a day and time as I’m sure they are booked solid for a couple weeks after Mother’s Day.

Adventure outing

This can look very different depending on the Mom and the location.  Some examples:  You are visiting the Grand Canyon, maybe book a helicopter tour.  Maybe you are exploring Moab Utah, rent a jeep and go for a sunset trail ride.  You know your Mom, and can find something that would excite her and make her happy.

National Park Map

Surely, if your mom is a lover of the outdoors, she will love this National Park map that showcases all of the National Parks in the country in a super stylish way.  Did you know that there are 59 National Parks in the US?  That’s a lot of parks for mom to cross off her bucket list. Give her a fun way to keep track of travels and plan for future adventures.

What about Moms and Grandma’s back home?

Photo albums/pictures

Something we have done for grandmas specifically is having custom photo books made from Shutterfly.  Many times we have created a bound photo album of a season, or region we have traveled.  It’s all done online, and shipped directly to grandma.  There are many templates and options available giving them a custom view of our adventure.

Souvenirs

I know my grandma collected spoons.  These fun little collectibles commemorate a place or event and she displayed them proudly throughout her house.  Maybe fridge magnets or Christmas ornaments are her thing?  Almost all touristy places and national park visitors’ centers have these items available showcasing whatever it is you’re seeing there.

Family Visits

I know that hitting the road isn’t always easy on family back home.  Kid’s miss grandmas and grandmas miss kids, so what better than plan a get together.  Maybe buy plane tickets to a location where you are exploring this summer.  Or maybe plan to drive in with your RV and surprise mom where she lives.  Family time is a great gift for mom!
