RV Kitchen Update

So the Kitchen was needing some attention.  We decided to try using Peel and Stick Smart Tiles for a back splash.  These are Appx 12×12, and are literally a sticker that looks like tile.  You could spend time and money on real tile, but that would add a bunch of unnecessary weight.   I will say, I was a little skeptical at first.  But once again, we had to do what all the cool RV’ers are doing, so we went for it.

You need a few tools.  I used a straight edge, box cutter, tape measure, pencil, putty knife, sanding block, and a large flat piece of wood.  First I peeled off the existing trim and cleaned off the wall.  Then I sanded down a couple screw holes that were there.  After the area was clean and smooth, I mocked up the tiles the way they would be applied, by starting in a corner, and working my way outward in both directions.  The install was fairly easy, took a couple hours from start to finish.  There was a slight learning curve, expect to waste a couple tiles, I’m glad I had a few to spare!

I will say, they look good, and give the Kitchen a completely different feel.  For right now, I am giving them 2 thumbs up.  We will see how they last after we splatter food & water on them, clean them over and over again, or hold up to the heat from the stove.  Unfortunately our local Home Depot did not carry them, so we got them on Amazon.  They are available through several retailers online.    There are several different colors and patterns to choose from.  You should check them out.

About Fummins Family

In 2016 a family hit the road with 5 of their children. They were going to travel the country in a Ford Excursion that had a cummins engine. A ford with a cummins, hence the name, Fummins. Ford+Cummins=Fummins. It was going to be a fummins family roadtrip. Within 3 months they decided that the travel trailer they were pulling wasn't working well for their family. They needed more space so they upgraded to a fifth wheel. It's not easy to pull a fifth wheel with an excursion, so they had to bid farewell to the fummins. They talked about changing the name of theirs travels, but decided to hold onto it for a while longer. They already had a website, blog, youtube, instagram and facebook. After 2 more years they decided to make the switch to Roadschool. Here they will share some of the old posts and video. It may be old information, but it's still just as good...at least most of it!
