King Omnigo Antenna

We were offered the KING Omni GO OA1501 portable Omnidirectional HDTV antenna to test and write a review on.  First let’s disclose that we were provided the antenna at no charge in exchange for testing and review.  But we are giving an honest review and thorough test of this product.

At first glance, this seems a bit cheap, especially the tripod, but keep in mind it is a “portable” unit, and made to be small, light and easy to store.  After playing around with it more, the construction is very robust, and definitely feels like it will withstand a lot of use.  The magnetic base is beefy, and I have no doubt it will hold on tight to whatever you stick it to.  The carry case is made of durable canvas, and shouldn’t be a problem.

We did 4 programming tests to compare it up against our RV antenna mounted up on the roof of the RV.

Test 1 – The Factory RV antenna, no booster, only yielded 1 analog channel.

Test 2 – The factory RV antenna with the booster on, it pulled in 1 analog channel, and 32 digital channels.

Test 3 – The OmniGO without the booster, on the tripod, on the ground in front of our RV, received 1 analog channel and 4 digital channels.

Test 4 – The OmniGo with the booster on, snatched up the same 1 analog channel and 68 digital channels.

In addition to pulling in

more channels, as I surfed through the channels, the pictures were much better with less pixilation and glitching.

In review,

This portable antenna far exceeded our expectations.  It’s super easy to set up and use.  It outperformed the much larger, more vertical factory RV antenna.  We received more channels with a clearer, less distorted picture.  We would recommend this antenna as a portable solution; it fits easily into a small area like behind a truck seat, or in a storage compartment of a RV.

About Fummins Family

In 2016 a family hit the road with 5 of their children. They were going to travel the country in a Ford Excursion that had a cummins engine. A ford with a cummins, hence the name, Fummins. Ford+Cummins=Fummins. It was going to be a fummins family roadtrip. Within 3 months they decided that the travel trailer they were pulling wasn't working well for their family. They needed more space so they upgraded to a fifth wheel. It's not easy to pull a fifth wheel with an excursion, so they had to bid farewell to the fummins. They talked about changing the name of theirs travels, but decided to hold onto it for a while longer. They already had a website, blog, youtube, instagram and facebook. After 2 more years they decided to make the switch to Roadschool. Here they will share some of the old posts and video. It may be old information, but it's still just as good...at least most of it!
