Mitch's Travel Journal
Today we are close to Sedona AR. We went to a state park
and a National Monument with 800 year old Indian buildings
in a cliff.
We are at Quartsite Arizona where the tempature is just right, (most
places are too hot). There is the biggest flea market
in the world here. A flea market is a big place with people that
sell stuff. We got some pictures of cactus.
We drove across the Hoover Dam to get to Arizona. We saw
the drainage hole next to the dam. We called it the Wormhole
We are still in Las Vegas.
Tomorrow we are going to go to Arizona.
We went to a marshmallow factory. They were making coconut marshmallows.
We got to taste the coconut and chocolate marshmallows. Then
we went to a juice factory called Ocean Spray. We got to try
all of the juices. We really liked CRAN-TANGERINE so we bought some.
Then we went to a chocolate factory but they closed early.

We went to Circus Circus. I went on a roller coaster with a double
looper and a corkscrew. It was really fun.
We went inside the Hoover Dam and saw a movie. One side is Nevada
the other is Arizona.
We went hiking in the rocks. It was really hard.
Yesterday I got some knee pads, wrist pads and elbow pads for roller
blading. I fell and I barely felt anything. My birthday is
in three days. I am going to go to Circus Circus for my party.
Circus Circus is a big dome with arcade games along the wall and in the
middle is a circus.
Today we are in Las Vegas, NV. We are at a camp ground by a casino
called the Show Boat. It has the most bowling lanes in America.
There are 106 lanes. We went into downtown where cars our not aloud, you
can only walk. Every hour there is a light show on the roof that
is over the walking area. It is a 20 ft wide walk way and about
300 ft long and covered with lights. The lights are 45 feet
above you. We got our hair cut today. I like tying a
rope to my bike, Max grabs the other end and I tow him on his roller
Tomorrow we are going to the Rose parade.
We went to get a good seat at 9:00 AM the day before the Rose parade.
All the spots
were taken except one. We asked some
people if they want to sit with us. Tonight was a big party at 12:00.
The next day the parade
started. My favorite float was Jurassic
Park. It was fun sleeping on the sidewalk.
Today we are at a place called Campland in
San Diego Ca. It is really cool because they have activities.
They got calendars of what
you do every day and what time it is.
So far we did hockey, kickball, and softball. It had four pools,
a large playground, Ping-Pong,
and each time we do a game we get a slushy,
and if they are out we get candy bars. They have a beach and a market
place. Next we
are going to soccer at 12:30.

There was one boy about 9 years old. He was able to do about 7 flips.

Hi class. I built two raccoon traps. The first one had
a wet top so they ripped through it. The second one was to small.
I hoping to build another one. We are in Santa Barbra, CA.
The park is called Rancho Oso. It has a swimming pool, play ground
horseshoes, horseback riding, basketball, a river, farm animals, all -you-can-eat

walrus. When we drove home, we went on a cliff and we saw 15
foot waves. Right now we are at a very small town called, Big Sur

with 2 pumps and a very small workspace. We also went to the

Today we rode on an old narrow-gauge steam train through a redwood
forest. Some of the trees were 1,400 years old and 300 feet high. They
called the train "narrow-gauge" because the tracks are closer together
than regular train tracks. They use this kind of train for going up mountains
where there's lots of trees.
I learned what a percentage grade is. If a road or train track is an
8% grade, that means for every 100 feet you travel, you will go up or down
Today we are at a park called River Grove, it is in a redwood forest
close to Santa Cruz, California. We learned how to
measure large trees.
Hi Mrs.J's class. Right now we're in Dunnigan, California. Today we
crossed the border to California and it is SUNNY! It is still a little
cold but it is warmer than Washington and Oregon. We saw, eucalyptus trees
and 6 palm trees. It is clear so we can watch shooting stars. We saw 1
dead skunk in the road. Today I installed Microsoft Encarta 98 on our computer.
We passed Mount Shasta. Here is some information
on Mount Shasta:
11/18/1998 - We drove by Mount Shasta. It was too cloudy to see the
top. Mount Rainier is only about 300 feet taller than Mount Shasta. It
is in northern California, in the Cascade Range. It's a dormant volcano,
(that means it's old and not active).
Today was our first day of Road School. I did writing ,typing and reading
today for 30 minutes each. So far it's lots of fun.
Last Friday was my last day at school. I think Nathan made a card and
everybody signed it.
